How It’s Made

The designs start their life as a sheet of jewellers wax. From here the basic design is cut out.
Additional melted wax is then added to build up the design to the required depth ready for carving the design with a fine craft knife.

The wax is now cast in sterling silver

When the design is cast in the required metal it is very raw and requires a lot of ‘finishing’ the first thing is to remove the sprues with a fine saw blade.
Sterling silver pieces are sent to the Assay office to be hallmarked.

If 2 dogs are required they are soldered together before polishing and brooch pins etc added.
Finally the piece can be polished on the machine using rouge to produce a high shine.
